Honoring the lives and legacies of EMS ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ students and staff, the district hosted the third-annual Ceremony of Remembrance on Tuesday, November 14 at the Boswell High School Fine Arts Center and the USMC Cpl. Marty Medellin Memorial Plaza.
In front of family, friends and supporters, this year’s ceremony honored the five students and three employees whose names were memorialized on the wall over the last year.
“While the circumstances of each of these individuals vary, they share the common thread of being valued members of the Eagle Mountain-²ÝÁñÊÓƵ ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ community,” said Dr. Jim F. Chadwell, Superintendent.
Before Chadwell honored the students and staff added to the wall, the ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ High School Air Force JROTC presented the colors, and the Chisholm Trail High School Ranger Vocal Band (RVB) sang the national anthem.
The ceremony concluded with the reading of all 98 names etched into the walls of the plaza, followed by the singing of the tribute song "Ad Astra" by the RVB. 
“This is the third year for the EMS ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ Ceremony of Remembrance and what a fitting time each year to host this event around the celebration of Veterans Day,” said Megan Overman, the executive director of communications at EMS ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ who opened the ceremony. “This ceremony is a time for us to come together as a district, to pause for a time of remembrance, and to pay tribute to those individuals from across EMS ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ who are forever remembered on the Memorial Plaza.”
The Plaza honors Boswell High School graduate Cpl. Medellin and all the EMS ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ personnel who have given the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country, whether in military service or in emergency fire or police duty. The Memorial also honors students and staff members who have died while attending or employed in the district.
